SHILLONG: NPP has lodged a complaint against East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vijay Mantri for his alleged role in aiding Meghalaya Chief Minister during the campaigning meeting of a political party.
In the complaint submitted before the Chief Election Commissioner, NPP District president of East Garo Hills, Marcuise N Marak said that NPP had requested the Deputy Commissioner for permission to allow Ronrenggiri school play ground to be used for a rally on March 27 and initially the DC refused to grant permission to use the playground for the NPP campaign meeting but on further request, DC allowed to hold the meeting at the far end but strictly instructed not to use a rostrum as such meetings will cause disturbance to the school.
“The reason for sudden change of action by the DC was that INC had also applied for using the playground and constructing a rostrum on March 28 and permission was given instantly,” he said in the complaint letter.
Meanwhile, the Returning Officer of Tura on Thursday asked the Deputy Commissioner Vijay Kr Mantri to submit the reply to the allegations with necessary documents as evidence within 24 hours.
