SHILLONG: The BJP’s Meghalaya unit has accused the IT minister AL Hek of violating the model code of conduct on three occasions during the campaigning for Congress.

BJP president KS Lyngdoh alleged that Hek on April 1 while addressing a meeting organized by the Congress at Golf Links promised that the allocation on the health insurance scheme would be raised from the current Rs1.63lakh to Rs. 2lakh by the State Government if the people voted Congress candidate Vincent Pala from the Shillong constituency to Lok Sabha for the second time.He alleged that Hek repeated same promise on April 4 at a public meeting held at Laban as well as at a public meeting at Mawprem.

BJP stated that the statement of AL Hek was a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct as laid by the Commission. The BJP has demanded an inquiry into the matter.
