ANVC-B cadres abandon Tura camp

SHILLONG: The ANVC-B cadres have abandoned their camp near Tura in retaliation to constant provocation. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, ANVC-B said that over last two weeks, newly recruited cadres of their mother organisation ANVC made three attempts to attack ANVC-B cadres at their camp near Tura which housed mostly women cadres.

“The attackers claimed to be policemen but they were mostly ANVC’s newly recruited cadres led by Sasan,” the statement said while adding that some SOT members accompanied the cadres in plain clothes. The breakaway faction has identified one of them as Brenart who is using weapons and a bike seized from the Darengagal attack.

The statement further said that twenty six cadres moved out of the camp.

“Most of the leaders were hunted and arrested while camps were under constant provocation. The cadres took nine shotguns, eight tactical crossbows with 250 poison arrows and IEDs. Leaders who abandoned the camp are Rambo, Chika, Nado, Silan, Rangdo, Devijani and others,” statement added. According to ANVC-B, efforts are being made to bring them back.

The outfit also appealed the Government to finalize the camps at the earliest as without safety, security and assistance, their condition remains volatile.
