27th Lympung of Seng Khihlang concludes

JOWAI: The 27th annual religious meeting of the Seng Khihlang- Ka Lympung Ki Khun Ki Ksiew Hynniewtrep which was held at Ialong village since Friday came to a close on Sunday with a large gathering of the followers of the Ka Niam Khasi Niamtre, Seng Khasi Sein Raij at Madan Lyngkien, Ialong.

Tens of thousands traditional faithful of the Niam Khasi Niamtre attended the Lympung besides elders of Seng Khasi, Sein Raij from across Khasi and Jaintia Hills. PWD Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar, Umroi MLA, Ngaitlang Dhar, the JHADC Chief, Thombor Shiwat also attended the Lympung on Sunday. Member of the Seng Khihlang, Sniawbhalang Dhar delivered the welcome speech.

Seng Khihlang president, H Robin Kurbah, who chaired the Lympung, informed that the main objective of organizing the Lympung annually is to remind the Khasi Pnar people of their culture and traditional beliefs and at the same time, envisages a need to preserve the rich cultures of the indigenous Khasi Pnar people.

The Lympung of the Seng Khihlang began on Friday with around 1300 delegates besides officials from all over Khasi and Jaintia Hills. Some of the delegates were from Barak Valley Sein Raij. On Saturday, the Seng Khasi Mawlongbna brought the monolith which was erected at Ialong village after a prayer service as a sign to commemorate the 27th Lympung.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Lympung began with the ‘Ka Tied Ksing Lum paid (beating of drums) to alert every members that the Lympung is about to start.

Main speakers at the Lympung on Sunday were Singh Mulieh of Sein Raij Ialong, Juwan Lamin of Sein Raij War Jaintia who is also the Vice President of the Ka Seng Khihlang and Firstborn Laloo of Sein Raij Jowai who spoke on behalf of the Ki Saw Langdoh’.

Earlier, the Seng Khihlang President, HR Kurbah released a book written by Sing Mulieh- the Book is about the genesis of the Sein Raij Ialong. The General Secretary, Seng Khihlang, J. Sana read out the report of the Organisation.
