GNLA cadres escape police firing

SHILLONG: Several GNLA cadres, who were having a picnic, escaped after an exchange of fire between them and police at Resubelpara, North Garo Hills on Monday evening.

According to police, after getting inputs that GNLA leaders Philliport, Jimmy and other cadres were having picnic at Jolding lake, around 9 km from Resubelpara, a police team along with SWAT commandos swung into action. Police said that at around 5.45 pm an encounter took place at Keragalram village, around 6 km from Resubelpara. Though there was heavy exchange of fire between police and GNLA cadres, there was no casualty, police said.
