Cook missing with carbine

On April 23, Havildar Grewith Marak of 6th MLP Battalion lodged a complaint at Nongstoin police station that on April 10, Darmen R. Marak, a temporary cook in the Battalion took away a service carbine with two empty magazines from his posting place at United Bank of India, Nongshillong, Nongstoin (WKH). The accused is absconding.

Mishap

On April 22 at around 11 pm, one truck (ML-07A-9185) driven by Arnest Sangma fatally ran over one Md. Sonesh Ali (15) at Wageasi, NH-62 (NGH). Police arrested the driver.

ATM fraud cases

One C.R. Marak of Barik, Shillong lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that on April 21, one Rahul Sharma, who introduced himself as SBI employee at Kolkata, enquired about his ATM Card number and PIN. Later, he found that Rs. 10,095- has been fraudulently withdrawn from his account.

Havildar D.F. Marak of 6th MLP Battalion lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that on April 18 at around 11.30 am, he received one telephone call in which the caller introduced himself as an employee of SBI and asked about his Account number and ATM card number. In the evening, he found that Rs. 14,661 has been fraudulently withdrawn from his account. Again on April 19, Rs. 2,800 were fraudulently withdrawn from his account.

Theft cases

On April 23, unknown miscreants stole one laptop and cash Rs. 500- from the residence of one Kenneth Singh Nongtdu at Lummawrie, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.

A woman identified as R.M. Sangma lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah police station that between April 15 and April 18, unknown miscreants broke into her quarter at GAD Complex, Motinagar, and stole one computer, one TV, jewelries, Pass Book, Cheque Book, clothes, Office documents and cash Rs. 10,000.

A woman identified as one Royinee Sorbor lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that on Apil 23 at around 12.30 pm, unknown miscreants stole one mobile phone and two memory cards from Bhutia Market, Police Bazar.

Body found

One Bipul Bihari Dutta (65) who was reported missing from his residence at Lumdiengjri, since April 22 was found dead near National Durbar Hall, Mawkhar on April 23 around 4.30 pm.

Assault

On April 23 at around 9.30 pm, unidentified miscreants assaulted one Jeffry N. Kharmalki (23) at Mawlai, Nongkwar, Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital Shillong.

Nine Bangladeshis arrested

On April 23 at around 6.30 am, while conducting vehicle checking, Police arrested 9 nine Bangladeshi nationals Md. Nahid Ahmed (18), Md. Foijol Ahmed (18), Md. Jakur Ahmed (18), Md. Sidik Ali (29), Md. Riaj Ahmed (23), Md. Nuwarul Islam (21), a minor boy(12), Md. Askar Ahmed (20) and Md. Aftar Ahmed (20).

Arrest

On April. 23 at around 12.30 pm, three persons, J.K Singh, Franky Dkhar and Ricky Sayoo were caught red-handed from the MPRO compound at Jowai (WJH) along with stolen tower equipments. Police arrested the accused persons.
