Toppers’ speak: Hard work to balancing act mantra for success

SHILLONG: While hard work was the key to success for Science topper Anindita Das Choudhury, striking the right balance between studies and recreation was what worked best for topper from Commerce stream, Sanchayita Das.

Both the toppers are students of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong.

Science topper Anindita, who now plans to study medical said, “Hard work does play an important role in achieving success.”

She also thanked God, her teachers and parents giving them credit for the achievement.

Reacting to a query about the perception that Science is a tough stream to pursue, Anindita said, “Science is meant for those who love the subject and if you are passionate paths will unfold.”

The topper from St Anthony’s who started her preparations two months before the examinations felt that it was equally important for students to take care of themselves during the run up to the tests.

Commerce topper Sanchayita, meanwhile, was candid enough to admit that she never expected to feature in the first ten.

Sanchayita said, “It was unexpected… The formula of my success was to strike a balance between studying and playing.”

Abhishek Das who secured the second position in the Science Stream also said that he never thought that he will achieve this feat.

“I am thankful to god, my parents and teachers for guiding me in the best possible manner,” he said.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons vice principal of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School Surjit Tigga gave full credit of the school’s brilliant performance to the students who once again made the institution proud.

The School has also announced a holiday on Friday in view of the tremendous performance of the students who will be felicitated on Wednesday.
