Nagaland: Re-Polling ends peacefully with 43.74% turnout

Kohima: The repolling in two polling stations under Zunheboto district and polling of ‘adjourned’ polling station in Longlend district ended peacefully with an overall turnout of 43.74 per cent.

In a release, the Nagaland Commissioner Temjen Toy, who is also the Returning Officer for 1- Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, has informed today that repolling at the two polling stations under 33 Suruhoto Assembly Constituency under Zunheboto district, namely (a) 2- Akhakhu and (b) 25- Naltoqa concluded peacefully with no untoward incidents.

The voters’ turnout of the two polling Stations is recorded at 31.25 per cent and 41.37 per cent respectively.

The voting for the adjourned poll at 1- Ladaigarh under 49- Tamlu Assembly Constituency in Longleng district was also held peacefully and without any hindrance at a nearby makeshift structure with a voter turnout of 58.61 per cent.

With this, the polling process for 1- Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency in the State of Nagaland has concluded and counting will take place along with the rest of the country on 16th May, 2014, the release added.

The Office of the Returning Officer places on record its deep appreciation to all the Assistant Returning Officers and their teams of officers and polling personnel for the smooth conduct of elections and is also confident that the counting process will be concluded likewise, the release said.

Assistant Returning Officer of Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency Lok Sabha Election, 2014 Mr. Limsong told UNI that re-polling in Polling Stations, number two in Akhakhu and Polling Station number 25 Naltoqa under Suruhoto Assembly Constituency in Zunheboto district are continuing and an average brisk polling of about 20 per cent was reported till 1000 hours this morning. No untoward incident was reported from any of the two Polling stations, where voting was on.(UNI)
