SHILLONG: In a rather unusual incident, a triplet delivery was conducted inside the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance base in Gasuapara on Friday night.
GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute, Marketing and Media Relations Aurelius Robert Passah said that a call was received at the ERC informing of a lady, Purnima Koch a resident of Silbaripara under Gasuapara Block, South Garo Hills had gone into labor.
The 108 Ambulance team on reaching the scene assessed the pregnant woman and while the ambulance was en-route to Dalu CHC, the lady started to have strong contractions and the EMT noticing the imminent signs of delivery, decided to park the ambulance in a safe place and prepared for delivery inside the ambulance.
While in the process of delivery the EMT delivered the triplets. Unfortunately one of the triplets was a still born as the mother had developed contraction in her seventh month of pregnancy.
The mother and the new born babies were then shifted to Dalu CHC for further management and treatment.
