TURA: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Southern Zone, Baghmara has expressed concern over the current trend of many school students getting their bodies tattooed. The President of the union along with others leaders including the General Secretary of the Captain Williamson Memorial Government College recently met the Principal of the JNV School in Baghmara and apprised him about the situation and the dangers of the practice which can lead to the students contracting the HIV/AIDS virus.

According to the union the Principal assured them that persuasive and precautionary measures would be initiated so as to convince the students about its dangers and to prevent them from continuing with the practice.

Meanwhile, the union has resolved that it would try to stop the menace at any cost by adopting different measures.

It has also decided to hold an interactive session with the students to try to persuade them to leave the habit when the school reopens after the summer vacations.
