TURA: The MBOSE has allayed fears of a differently abled student of Jyoti Sroat School here who was placed in the list of wards in the second division with 58.60 per cent in the SSLC results after the Board did not enter the marks of Khasi subject which he attempted.
Out of the total six subjects, marks of only five were listed in the mark sheet of the student, Darylstar Lyngdoh. When asked about the error, the Controller of Examinations, S N Marak said that it occurred due to a glitch. “The computer is not programmed to display marks of the subject in question (Khasi) since it is an MIL subject which is not meant for the differently abled,” Marak said.
According to Marak, the error will not affect the student’s prospects as it is not an actual mark sheet.
She also informed that according to the MBOSE regulation, differently abled students are exempted from taking up MIL subjects like Khasi, Garo etc., but are allowed to take the same if they desire. Meanwhile, Deputy Controller, Examinations, TR Laloo informed that even if a differently abled student appears in six subjects, the computer will display only five subjects. “That is why Khasi did not figure in the list on the internet,” Laloo.
He also said that temporary mark sheets have been sent to the concerned school with the signature of the Controller of Examinations so that the students do not face difficulty in getting admissions.
He also informed the original mark sheet has also been sent to the Shillong office and may be issued by Monday.
