SHILLONG: ANVC-B chief Rimpu Marak met National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) officials on Tuesday in Delhi to appraise them about the fake encounter at Darengagal which resulted in the death of four of its cadres last January and custodial death of Balsan S Marak.

A letter was submitted to NHRC along with the pictures of the victims.

The splinter group of ANVC is hopeful of getting early response from the Commission.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the ANVC-B Chairman said that Balsan’s death has brought GNLA and ANVC-B closer irrespective of differences in the past.

Both organizations are demanding justice for the innocent boy who died in judicial custody, Marak said

The ANVC-B chief during his meeting with MHA officials stressed on the need to bring GNLA on board for lasting peace in Garo Hills.

“Without bringing GNLA to the negotiating table, there will be no peace”, the ANVC-B leader said.

He also urged Government to refrain from any kind of operations and killing instead, prayed for paving way for peace and permanent solution to their demands.

The ANVC.B Chairman may meet GNLA Chairman Champion Sangma soon to discuss the possibilities of responding to people’s call.
