LPG home delivery to resume in city from June 1

SHILLONG: LPG consumers in the city may finally have something to cheer about since the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that point delivery of LPG to consumers in areas where it is being operated will be reverted back to home delivery system with effect from June 1.

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Sanjay Goyal, also informed that the labour charge for home delivery has been enhanced from Rs. 17 per cylinder to Rs. 25 per LPG cylinder and the total price inclusive of home delivery for ex-storage/ godown price is Rs. 446.

According to Goyal, all domestic LPG consumers must take note that the enhancement in price of home delivery is subject to the terms and conditions that delivery of domestic LPG by the gas agencies should be at doorstep level without any exception and any overcharging of price should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner with full particulars.

Meanwhile, he informed that the Government has also launched a portability scheme for cooking gas customers across the country and this would be available for customers with any of the distributors like Indane, HP Gas or Bharat Gas.

“With this, an LPG consumer can now switch to the distributor of his/ her choice within a cluster of LPG distribution in the vicinity under the LPG connection portability scheme,” Goyal said, adding this measure will bring great relief to those LPG consumers who are unhappy with the services of their current distributor or want to move to an LPG distributor closer to their home.
