Informing this here on Monday, Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek said that the second phase of the scheme was in the offing and hoped that the case would be disposed off shortly.

In the second phase, the department plans to enhance the slab of free treatment to Rs 2 lakh from existing Rs 1.60 lakh.

The Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) is an initiative of the State Government to help those who cannot afford expensive treatment.

According to Hek, the MHIS had helped poor people to a great extent in getting good medical service.

“People can now avail free treatment for more than 1200 medical problems and department plans to increase the list, he said. He informed that many more hospitals in the city (including NEIGRIHMS) as well as outside the state would be empanelled under the second phase.
