SHILLONG: The FKJGP Mawsynram unit has detected a private clinic functioning inside the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Mawsynram, run by a government doctor.
“We have raised this issue with the various Health department officials including East Khasi Hills District Health and Medical Officer. But no action was taken against this doctor even more than one and half years after they had lodged the complaint,” FKJGP president Banshai Marbaniang said here on Monday.
He also said that they came across about the existence of this private clinic after they found out that all the reimbursements under the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) in Mawsynram was channelized through this clinic.
While trying to locate the private clinic, he said that they were shocked to found that the private clinic was being run from the CHC. “This is clear case of misuse of the Government land by the employees,” Marbaniang said.
The FKJGP Mawsynram in its RTI findings has unearthed serious anomalies in the implementation of the new building of the CHC.
“We had received a photo of the baby room with all the necessary facilities. But when we went to inspect in the CHC, we could not find the baby room,” Marbaniang said adding that even the staff of the CHC informed that they do not have any baby room in the CHC.
He said that this is clearly case of trying to mislead by the authorities.
The FKJGP Mawsynram president said that they were also surprised that in the RTI, there was a mentioned about the construction of the entrance in the CHC. “Till date, there is not even a pillar on the entrance,” Marbaniang said.
Moreover, he alleged that the 69 ASHA workers under the PHC were not receiving any honorarium for the past many months. “In the RTI, it shows that the ASHA workers are receiving the honorarium regularly with their signatures,” Marbaniang said
When they tried to inquire from the ASHA workers, he said that all them informed that they had not received the honorarium even as they claimed that their signatures were forge. The FKJGP’s Mawsynram unit has also lodged an FIR with the police on the RTI findings.
