Sport promotion society introduced in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH: In a bid to speed up the development of sports at the grassroots level, the Sports & Youth Affairs department has introduced a new programme – the District Sport Promotion Society – through which grassroots level planning can be activated in line with the aspirations and dreams of young sportspersons from the different blocks, sub divisions and district headquarters.
It is hoped that the new intiative will benefit athletes and supplement their efforts in order to better their performance in district, state and national level competitions.
The DSPS is planned to act as a catalyst in bridging the aspirations of the young sportspersons to reach national and international competitions.
The Ri-Bhoi District Sports Officer PM Marbaniang, informed, on Wednesday, that all sports associations of the district who are interested in being part of the DSPS can get an application form from the office of the DSO in Nongpoh.
The last date of submission is June 16 and the DSO can be contacted for any queries.
