Cop dies in road mishap

SHILLONG: One constable died on Thursday after he was dashed by a speeding Assam-bound vehicle near Mawiong Marten Trenching Ground. The deceased Lambok Makri, who was a football player, was on his way in his motorcycle to play a football match when the mishap took place. Initially he was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital Shillong and was later referred to Woodland Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle (Tata Innova –AS-01EC-6890) has been detained, police said.
