SHILLONG: A vibrant and colourful three-day long programme “Janrang” centered on performing arts of North-Eastern states of India began at U Soso Tham Auditorium after the formal inauguration by Deputy Commissioner, Sanjay Goyal on Tuesday.

In an array of performances, Tuesday’s presentation started with ‘Fiching Kechibo’ of Arunachal Pradesh. Later, artists from Sikkim presented ‘Maruni’ dance followed by ‘Hozagiri’ of Tripura. The other presentations were ‘Bihu’ dance of Assam, traditional dance of the Khasis which was followed by ‘Cherav’ of Mizoram and ‘Pung Cholam’ and ‘Basant Raas’ dance of Manipur. The programme concluded with ‘Deori’ of Assam.
