SHILLONG: The different units of the KSU Mawlai Circle have decided to back the decision of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to expel former KSU Mawlai Circle president Donbok Kharlyngdoh from the union.
“We fully endorse the decision of the central body to expel Kharlyngdoh from the organisation,” KSU Mawlai Nongkwar unit president Biangbor Lyngdoh Paliar told newsmen after the meeting of the 11 units of the KSU Mawlai Circle here on Wednesday.
He also said that the different units have unanimously decided to repose their faith on the leadership of both Daniel Khyriem (president) and Auguster Jyrwa (general secretary) to continue to lead the union.
Meanwhile, Paliar said that the former KSU Mawlai Circle deserved to be expelled from the union since he was doing things which were against the spirit of the union.
“He (Kharlyngdoh) had tried to bulldoze by demanding a discussion on the issue concerning the KSU Mawlai Circle which was not in the agenda during the General Executive Council (GEC). The KSU president (Khyriem) had assured that they would discuss the issue at a later stage after they complete the various agendas which was listed for the day,” KSU Mawlai Nongkwar unit president said.
Despite the request of the Khyriem to allow the completion of the other agendas, he said that the former KSU Mawlai Circle president instead came out from the meeting.
“The action on the part of Kharlyngdoh has not gone well with the many of the KSU members representing from the various units of Khasi and Jaintia Hills. This has ultimately led to the decision to expel him from the union,” Paliar said.
The KSU Mawlai Nongkwar unit president has also expressed surprise that Kharlyngdoh decided to take a u-turn by criticising the NGOs over their stand on the ILP issue.
“In fact, he (Kharlyngdoh) had convene a meeting of the KSU Mawlai Circle to applaud the various NGOs for managing to convince the State Government to come up with stringent mechanism to tackle the problem of influx,” Paliar said while adding that he was every happy with the propoposed modified ILP.
Meanwhile, Paliar said that it is really sad that the CEC has been compelled to temporarily dissolved the KSU Mawlai Circle due to the anti-activities of Kharlyngdoh.
He also asserted that they are not recognising the so called independent body of the KSU Mawlai Circle as proposed by the former president.
Earlier, the KSU Mawlai Mawtawar, Mawlai Umjaiur and Mawlai Nongpdeng units have expressed shock over the decision of the Union’s central body to expel president of KSU Mawlai Circle Donboklang Kharlyngdoh.
The three KSU units termed the decision as unjustified since Kharlyngdoh had questioned the delay tactics of the Union over their demand for implementation of the ILP and had also opposed the misuse of funds of the KSU Mawlai Circle.
