Kohima:  A day after three legislators of the Nationalist Congress Party joined the BJP in Nagaland, NCP state unit Wednesday said it was wrong on their part to say it had merged with the saffron party.
“The claim of the defecting MLAs that NCP had merged with the BJP is misleading as most of the state officials, frontals and district units are still intact,” NCP Nagaland Unit Vice-President L Shemdok and General Secretary Miathou Krose said in a statement here.
Except Wokha district, all other district units were still functional while its frontal organisations like legal cell and Kisan Sabha were operational, they said.
Former NCP state unit President and National Secretary, Neiba Ndang said, “only three MLAs had defected to BJP along with some state officials, but a majority of dedicated party officials and workers are still working for the party. “A host of frontal organisations and district units still remain faithful to the party despite the betrayal of the three MLAs,” he said in a statement.
“The party has no regret or sense a loss of any kind by the actions of the 3 MLAs because it was expected and many party officials and workers still stand dedicated and eagerly waiting for the reorganising and revamping of the party,” said Ndang. (PTI)
