TURA: The ANVC (B) has said that Kakarong who was alleged to have been involved along with two others in the kidnapping of Ampati SBI official, Arvind Kumar was no longer with the outfit. The outfit claimed that the former militant had deserted the ANVC (B) in 2012.
“Kakarong was arrested by the police and bailed out by his family. He did not return to the ANVC (B) but was frequently seen reporting to Garobadha thana,” it claimed in a statement.
It alleged that police were in the habit of drubbing ANVC (B) as the prime suspect every time something unfortunate happened and stated that this was perhaps because ANVC (B) posed a threat to certain officials and politicians. It claimed that ANVC (B) was once rumoured to be the left arm of the Dr Mukul Sangma Government and that an attempt was now being made to wipe out the trails which was the reason for chaos in Garo Hills.
Asserting that the outfit chose to move on with determination to restore peace it urged the government to do the same and refrain from playing the blame game. “Find a remedy and heal the wounds of the people of Garo Hills before it is too late. Early settlement, fair justice and good governance is the need of the hour,” it said.
Earlier, the GNLA had alleged that the dramatic rescue of kidnapped SBI official, Arvind Kumar within two days by police was a hoax and merely a well planned drama staged by West Garo Hills SP Mukesh Kumar Singh along with his deputy Bruno Sangma.
“This is totally a game played upon the GNLA to tarnish the organization’s image, so that the public would condemn GNLA. The driver of the vehicle of Arvind kumar has revealed to the locals about the whole process of the plan and said that it was purely a pre-meditated play by the police,” the outfit’s senior cadre, Savio Ch Marak said in a statement.
In support of his claims the militant leader said the driver of the SBI official had revealed to villagers that three motorcycles which were seized and kept in the police station were brought in to use in the kidnapping drama. On the three abductors managing to give the police the slip Marak questioned how that was possible when the police had surrounded them and were only 50 metres away. Savio further claimed that the SBI official had been wearing a white coloured shirt at the time of his abduction which interestingly had changed to black by the time he was rescued by the Tura Police.
