Nagaland Budget Session from July 22

Kohima: Governor Ashwani Kumar on Friday summoned the fifth session of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Session, which will be the Budget Session for the fiscal 2014-2015, from July 22. A press release issued by Secretary, Nagaland Assembly, A E Lotha said the Governor has summoned the session at 0930 hrs on July 22. The business of the Budget Session will be prepared by the Business Committee of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. (UNI)

Two NSCN (IM) cadres arrested in Arunachal

Itanagar: Two cadres of NSCN (IM) were arrested with arms and ammunition from a village near Khonsa in troubled Tirap district, a senior police official said on Friday. Acting on a tip-off, security forces caught the rebels during their two-day operation from June 16 to 17 last, Tirap SP Vikramjit Singh said in a statement. Two AK 56 rifles, two magazines and 40 rounds of live ammunition besides cash were recovered from their possession, he said. In another operation on Wednesday last, the security forces recovered one self-loading rifle, two SLR magazines, 120 rounds of ammunition and 12 RPG Lathode bombs from the area, the SP said. (PTI)

Three arrested with arms

Itanagar: Three persons were arrested with arms during a special operation at Banderdewa, near here, a senior police officer said on Friday. Police recovered two .32 pistols along with 17 live rounds from them after their arrest Thursday, city SP Seju P Kuruvilla said. The trio were identified as Bengia Kame of Koloriang, Raj Pegu of Laluk (Assam) and Pranab Saikia from Bihpuria (Assam), he said. (PTI)
Woman shot at
Imphal:  A 30-year-old woman was injured when suspected militants shot at her at Saikul in Senapati district, official sources said Friday. Hatjaneng Kipgen suffered injury at her back and was hospitalised Thursday night. No group or organisation has so far claimed responsibility for the incident, the sources said. (PTI)

Five killed in road accident in Assam

Dhubri : Five persons, including two women, were killed on Friday when the taxi in which they were travelling collided with a truck at National Highway 31 in Dhubri district, police said. The taxi, in which the five were travelling towards Dhubri town, collided with a truck coming from the opposite side at Baladmari killing them on the spot, they said. One of the deceased was a homeguard attached to Gauripur police station. The taxi driver escaped unhurt. The driver of the truck is absconding, but the vehicle has been seized, they said. (PTI)
