SHILLONG: The police from Garobadha who are investigating the kidnapping case of the Bank official Arvind Kumar quizzed CSWO President Agnes Kharshiing at her residence on Wednesday.
Kharshiing had posted in her Facebook account indicating that the kidnapping was stage managed by the police.
Annoyed over the alleged highhandedness of the police, Kharshiing said that the order has come from someone in Police Headquarter to question her as according to the official, she is acquainted with the case.
“The reason was because I said the kidnapping could be a police drama and the GNLA also echoed the same. This is absurd and I have my freedom of speech and if the media highlights what the militant group said something similar to what I said, what has that got to do with me”, Kharshiing questioned.
The CSWO President wanted to know why the police are hurt by the allegations.
“I wanted to know why the police are hurt? They have arrested illegally many youths on mere suspicion and even killed and yet they get away with it. Why are they after me? Who in Police Headquarter is after my head? I would like to know and the DGP better be clear about who is tapping my calls and why?” Kharshiing asked.
Kharshiing also wanted to know how Police can link her with GNLA if the comments on the kidnapping of bank official have similarities.
“I have in the last couple of weeks filed about 4 RTI’s in the Police Headquarter related to the custodial deaths and I am concerned as we cannot have a force that is killing people. They have no authority to kill and to cover up their acts as they tamper evidence and when we raise our voice they try to clamp us down. If we voice out our suspicions we have every right to do so as they too are suspects because there were two custodial deaths”, Kharshiing alleged
