Four traders abducted in Garo Hills

SHILLONG: Suspected armed militants kidnapped four traders in West Garo Hills on Wednesday morning.

The traders identified as G. Sheikh, Shah Alom, Ajgar Ali and Musaddar Ali hailing from Kaimbathapara village in West Garo Hills, were abducted while they were on their way to the weekly bazaar in Dadenggre civil subdivision in the district.

While Ajgar Ali and Musaddar Ali are brothers, others are their friends.

According to reports, the incident took place at around 7 am when the traders were stopped by the militants at a place near Kantanagre village under Dadenggre.

Police have launched an operation to trace the traders even as the GNLA has been indicated as the initial suspects behind the abductions.
