Bike thieves held

SHILLONG: Three bike thieves from outside the state were arrested by police from parts of the city on Thursday.

Following information from one Ram Chandra Tamang of Demseiniong Parmaw that his bike was stolen from Assam Rifles DGAR, Laitumkhrah on Wednesday evening, police units were alerted and the stolen bike was finally intercepted during a check at Mawlai at 2 am on Thursday when the two suspects were trying to move out of the city.

The two arrested persons have been identified as Rifikul Islam (19) and Rakip Ahmed (19) of Assam. The two are presently staying at 4thFurlong, Polo.

Again on Thursday at around 2.45 pm another bike belonging to one Afjol Ali was reported stolen from the Parking Lot opposite Old Assembly building Police Bazar.

Immediately all police units were put on high alert and the stolen bike was intercepted at 3.45 pm at Old Cherra Petrol Pump, Shillong. One Erengbom Somand (35) of Imphal was held for the theft while his accomplice managed to escape.
