SHILLONG: Executive Member in-charge Mines and Minerals Donkupar Sumer informed that the Wahkaji-Mawthabah road funded by the UCIL is expected to be completed within December this year.

“Out of a total of 13 km, only 6.5 km of the road has been totally completed,” Sumer said while replying during the Question Hour on the fifth day of the Council Summer Session here on Monday.

He also informed that the EC has constituted a committee to inspect the road project.

“The committee is expected to conduct the inspection at the earliest,” Sumer said.

He said that a total amount of Rs 38.83 crore has been sanctioned for the road project.

“So far a total amount of Rs 31.29 crore has been paid to the contractor,” he said while adding that the rest of the amount will be paid after the contractor completes the all-important road project.
