13 from NE in women’s footy probables

SHILLONG: The six-week preparatory camp for the Indian women’s national team for the upcoming Asian Games will kick off in Mumbai on July 11 with 13 women from the North East among the probables named by coach Tarun Roy on Wednesday.

Manipur dominates the list as the state with the most footballers in the group, although Sikkim and Assam are also represented.

There is no Meghalayan among the list, however.

The camp will conclude on August 25 and will be followed by an exposure trip to China until September 10.

Probables:

Goalkeepers – Okram Roshni Devi (Manipur), Aditi Chauhan, Tikina Samal, Pushpa Tirkey.

Defenders – Romi Devi, Radharani Devi, Umapati Devi (all Manipur), Ashalata Devi, Suprava Samal, Tuli Goon, Lako Bhutia (Sikkim), Nirmala, Sumitra Marandi.

Midfielders – Premi Devi, Bembem Devi, Mandakini Devi (all Manipur), Kamala Devi, Supriya Routray, Manisa Panna, Montesori Chanu, Ammolya Kamal, Swati Rawat, Neha Kumari, Dorothi Oriya (Assam), Margaret Castanha, Manpreet Kaur, Indumathi Kathiresan.

Forwards – Parmeshwori Devi, Rinaroy Devi, Dangmei Grace, Bala Devi (all Manipur), Jyoti Burrett, Pinky Magar, Sasmita Malik, Jabamani Soren.
