SHILLONG: The mastermi-nd in the abduction of manager of SBI’s Ampati brach Arvind Kumar was arrested by a special team of police with the assistance from police from West Garo Hills on Wednesday at Garobadha.
According to police the arrested person has been identified as one Hanif Ali of Mankachar
Three suspected persons recently abducted Kumar and his driver at gunpoint from Garobadha Bridge while the bank official was on his way to Ampati. The kidnappers, however, released the driver on the same day.
Kumar was rescued from a place near Milliem village, about 28km from Tura, a few days after his abduction following heavy exchange of fire between police and the abductors.
