SHILLONG: Finding the address of a person or a place is always considered to be a very big challenge in Shillong since most of the bye lanes and roads in Shillong do not have a proper name but the Urban Affairs Department is mulling to come out with some sort of system which would reduce the confusion.

Speaking to The Shillong Times on Thursday, Principal Secretary of Urban Affairs Prashant Naik said that the department is mulling to come with a system of naming all roads, lanes and bye lanes in the city.

The Department is also contemplating to launch some sort of a system where proper numbering of some houses can be done and it will be easy for people to identify a particular house.

Naik said the Department is also mulling to put name plates in front of the Government houses and it will be easy for the people to identify such houses. The Urban Affairs Department would first start the initiative in the Municipal areas
