SHILLONG: It will be a very long wait for NPP leader PA Sangma to get a cabinet berth in the Modi ministry since there would not be any induction in the Union Cabinet till the Parliament session is over.
The parliament session, which will begin on Monday, will conclude only in August.
Earlier, there were reports that there will more inductions in the Union cabinet prior to the Parliament session to accommodate ministers who were left out.
Moreover, the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had earlier hinted that since he held the additional portfolio of defence, he would have to shed this portfolio whenever there is a cabinet reshuffle.
What delayed Sangma’ chance to get the Cabinet berth in the union cabinet is that the BJP-led NDA had to first accommodate the BJP MPs in the cabinet followed by others.
Moreover, there are already two ministers, Sarbananda Sonowal and Kiren Rijiju from the Northeast in the union ministry. Though Sangma met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi several times- before and after the elections -there was no word of assurance from the BJP-led NDA leadership on his induction in the cabinet.
