Mizoram assembly passes vote on account for four months

Aizawl: Vote-on-account for four months (August to November, 2014) amounting to Rs 2,377.88 crore as presented in the Mizoram assembly by the state Finance minister Lalsawta was unanimously passed by the legislature on Wednesday after a brief discussion. Lalsawta said that he had presented and obtained the first vote-on-account during the last session in March for expenditure requirements of the first four months of the current fiscal (April-July) as the Planning Commission was yet to allocate the state annual plan outlay for 2014-15. He said that due to recent formation of the new government at the Centre, the finalization of the annual plan was likely to take some more time and was compelled to seek another vote-on-account for four months from August to November 2014. “The regular budget would be laid for seeking the approval of this august House as and when the Plan size for 2014-2015 is determined by the Central government,” he added. Two injured in three bomb explosions near Indo-Myanmar border

Imphal: Two persons were injured when three powerful bombs exploded in Kasom Khullen area near the Indo-Myanmar border in Ukhrul district of Manipur, officials said on Wednesday. The explosions occurred near the post of 44th battalion post of Assam Rifles on Tuesday. The bombs were allegedly planted by suspected militants to attack the security personnel. The victims were identified as S P Keneth (41), a farmer,and Laishram Kiran (45), a labourer, Both were admitted to a government hospital at Imphal where their condition was described as serious. In another incident, suspected militants exploded a powerful grenade at the gate of the residence of an executive engineer of electricity department identified as L Dinesh Kumar at Uripok area here in Imphal West district Tuesday night, the police said. Kumar and his family members, who were at their residence at the time of the explosion, were unhurt, the police said. Kumar told mediapersons that a militant outfit had demanded money from him last year. (PTI)

MHA approves 17 CAPF companies for Tripura panchayat poll

Agartala:  Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sanctioned 17 companies of central armed Paramilitary Force (CAPF) for maintaining law and order during three-tier Panchayat election, scheduled on July 15 next.  This is for the first time Tripura got CAPF in Panchayat poll.State election commissioner Y Kumar today said MHA agreed to deploy 17 companies of CAPF, as demanded by the state for Panchayat poll. He however, pointed out altogether 800 polling stations have been categorized as sensitive and 1,788 polling stations as normal.As many as 315 micro observers and 273 sector officers were appointed for the election and several other administrative measures have been undertaken to ensure fair polling in the state,  Kumar stated.
