JOWAI: Unidentified miscreants on Wednesday murdered a pregnant woman (29) and her brother (43) inside the victims’ vehicle.

The woman identified as Ribaitmi Dkhar, a school teacher and her brother, Jelbinroi Dkhar, an employee of the Jaintia HIlls Autonomous District Council (JHADC), were residents of Borato village.

According to the victims’ elder sister, the duo had left the village at around 7am to visit a doctor. “They left for Jowai to meet a lady doctor but at around 8am, when I was inside a class room, I was informed that both my siblings were mysteriously killed inside their vehicle”, the sister informed. The woman’s body was found with her throat slit while the male victim was found with a severe blunt head injury.

The bodies were later shifted to Ialong District Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
