SHILLONG: The National Khasi Union (NKU) has demand a full-fledged blood bank at Nongpoh Civil Hospital in Ri-Bhoi district.

The NKU president R Lyngdoh said that the blood bank should be equipped with proper blood storage equipment, such as refrigerators, plasma freezers and platelet agitators and, most importantly, generators in the Nongpoh Civil Hospital.

The NKU president observed that even with the hospital being upgraded from a PHC to a fully-fledged civil hospital there are still many issues which needs to be provided attention.

Meanwhile, Lyngdoh stated that if the government does not fulfill their demands the union will be forced to begin a programme of agitation.
