SHILLONG: District Council Affairs (DCA) Minister, HDR Lyngdoh will discuss the holding of GHADC elections with the Chief Minister.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, he said that the Government is hopeful of holding the elections within the extension period of six months. The period of extension of the council will end on August 17.
The State Government had extended the term of the GHADC expecting the finalization of the agreed text of settlement between the Centre, State Government and the ANVC.
Once the text settlement agreement is signed, the ANVC cadres would be allowed to contest in the election of the Council. The final text settlement agreement is still pending with the Central Government.
