SHILLONG: After two one-sided matches reported on Wednesday concerning teams from the Garo Hills in the ongoing State Level Subroto Cup football tournament, Wednesday delivered more of the same for schools from the western part of the state.

The state-wide tournament was into its third day on Wednesday at the JN Sports Complex, Polo.

Not a single team from Garo Hills was able to win a match on Wednesday (or in games from Tuesday where the results were not available at the time of going to press) when the opposing team came from the Khasi or Jaintia Hills.

This demonstrates the need for football to be developed in the Garo Hills if the players there are to make any headway against the strong showing of teams from Meghalaya’s east.

The most one-sided contest on Wednesday was in the U-14 boys division where Sibsing Memorial, Nongstoin (West Khasi Hills) walloped Govt. Higher Secondary School, Ampati (South West Garo Hills) 13-1, although there were many other (less dramatic) results going against Garo Hills teams.
