SHILLONG: The Meghalaya BJP unit has demanded immediate removal of Meghalaya DGP P.J.P. Hanaman and West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kr. Singh.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, State BJP vice-president, David Ch. Marak said the two police officials have failed in all fronts and they should be replaced by suitable and reasonable officers for normalizing the situation in Garo Hills.
Marak also condemned the killing of a policeman on patrolling duty earlier this month at Teleronggre on the Tura-Dalu road.
“For the people of Garo Hills the situation has turned into ‘wait with tension’ and how, when and where one would be killed in Garo Hills,” the statement read.
“As far as the present situation in Garo Hills is concerned, it seems no amicable formula has been found by the policy makers and the implementing agencies in the State to prevent further killing of the innocent people,” he said.
Marak was also of the opinion that deployment of the Army or imposition of President’s Rule in the State will not provide any lasting solution to the problems in Garo Hills.
