Tyrsad Sec School girls steamroll opposition

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills’ Tyrsad Secondary School piled up 12 goals on their way to victory over Gasuspara UP School, Baghmara (South Garo Hills) in an U-17 girls State Level Subroto Cup football match at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Thursday.
Two Tyrsad girls recorded hat-tricks: IIawanlang Nongbet (2nd, 36th, 54th, 57th minutes) and Mattibahun Umdor (15th ,29th ,45th).
Nongbet had also scored four goals in Tuesday’s game against Gambegre UP School.
Aitihun Majaw (17th), Dabianghi Nongbet (22nd), Balarishisha Marbaniang (32nd, 51st) and Banriakor K Kamni (60th) also scored in Thursday’s match.
In another U-17 girls game, Skitlang Dkhar’s 20th minute goal was the only one in the match for Dkhiah Pres Sec School, Khliehriat (East Jaintia Hills), who beat Sakwang Primary & Sec School, Mawkyrwait (South West Khasi Hills) 1-0.
In the U-17 boys category, Govt Boys HS School, Jowai (West Jaintia Hills) romped to an 8-0 win over Trinity Sec School, Williamnagar (East Garo Hills).
The goal scorers for the Jowai school were Ronny Ryngkhlem (2nd, 27th, 28th, 59th), Chanmitre Thma (12th), Heibormi Talang (18th) and Primrose Lamat (20th, 24th).
A morning U-14 boys match saw St Anthony’s HS School (EKH) cruise to a 7-0 victory over Govt HS School, Ampati (South West Garo Hills).
Bantei Suting (12th, 27th, 29th) scored a hat-trick, with team mates Manbhakupar Iawphniaw (1st), Freddy Laltlanmawia (11th), L Nathan Wahlang (33rd) and Wikimaldini Nongtdu (39th) also getting their names on the scoresheet.
Govt UP & Sec School, Resubelpara (North Garo Hills) managed to stem the almost unrelenting run of defeats for teams from the Garo Hills with a 1-1 draw against Radphod Sec School, Mawkyrwat (SWKH) in a later U-14 boys match.
According to the results provided by the organisers on Thursday, one of the evening matches from Wednesday resulted in the first victory for a Garo Hills team over one from Khasi-Jaintia Hills this year, although the full picture was not clear.
Holy Family Secondary School, Rongjeng (EGH) was said to have defeated Khliehriat Pres Sec School (EJH) 2-0, but the names of the goal scorers were not provided.
In the other evening match, Khrumdiengei Sec School, Umbir (Ri-Bhoi) beat Govt Boys HS School, Jowai (WJH) 3-1.
Lurshai Nangrang (3rd), Livingstone Nongrang (22nd) and Donbok Lyngdoh (56th) scored for the winners, while Fivestar Talang (37th) put one in for the WJH team.
