Suspected NLFT collaborators arrested in Agartala

Agartala: Tension erupted with the arrest of a policeman and a guard of senior Congress MLA Ratan Lal Nath from here on Friday night.
They were held as police suspected them to be overground collaborators of the banned outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
Following an intelligence report police detained Jyotish Debbarma (50), a constable of the Tripura Police, and Indrajoy Reang (33). Both hail from Kanchanpur and stayed in a rented house at Pragati Road here.
Police recovered two subscription books of NLFT, 23 photographs of women and fake Indian currencies of Rs 5000 from their possession. However, except a knife, no weapon was found from the house.
Police said Debbarma, a constable engaged in sentry duty at Mr Nath’s house, has been residing in the house of one Goutam Sarkar on rent for past few years but the landlord never suspected anything.
After change of duty in Nath’s house around 4 pm Jyotish went home and Indrajoy and another had joined him in the evening. After around 8 pm Assam Rifles jawans accompanied by Tripura Territorial Army raided the house and detained Jyotish and Indrajoy but the third person escaped, police said.
Based on Assam Rifles statement police said intelligence input confirm their association with NLFT and Indrajoy and another arrived from Kanchanpur yesterday to plan out for NLFT activity around Agartala and serve extortion notice to some businessmen of Agartala besides, selling of fake Indian notes.
