Kohima: Secretary of the Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) and Eastern Dimapur Businessmen’s Association President Solomon L Awomi, who had been ‘detained’ at the GPRN/NSCN designated camp, Khehoi since July 31, was released on Saturday after signing a ‘bond agreement’.

The details of the ‘bond agreement,’ was not released to the media.

Sources said the release of the ACAUT Secretary, GPRN/NSCN (NSCN-Khole-Kitov) Kilo Kilonser (home minister) Hevukhu Yeptho informed that Solomon was being released on the request of the Naharbari, Purana Bazaar and Darogapathar Village Councils.

“GPRN/NSCN would not have released him if ACAUT had requested, but since it was the three villages, we are releasing him on humanitarian grounds,” he said.

In a meeting involving GPRN/NSCN officials and representatives of the three villages, Solomon said he has taken the incident positively and that he was not threatened, intimidated or harmed during his two nights stay at Khehoi camp.

He informed that certain misunderstandings led to his ‘detention,’ but assured that everything remained clarified. Solomon expressed appreciation to leaders of various organisations for their tireless efforts in ensuring his safe release.

Meanwhile, ACAUT Nagaland has asked the GPRN/NSCN to divulge the names and details of the ‘public’ who had complained against Solomon alleging his involvement in extortion related activities. ACAUT demanded to know the exact nature of the allegation against its Secretary. (UNI)
