Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here and sought his support for encouraging artistes in the country. “We came to congratulate him…. I just conveyed that people of India have great expectation from him,” Khan said outside parliament after meeting Modi.
The renowned musician, who had come along with his sons Amaan and Ayaan, described the meeting as “great” and said Modi was very “kind and gracious”. Seeking Prime Minister’s support for artistes, Khan said, “There are many issues but we are concerned about art and culture. We want that Indian artistes and creative persons get his patronage and support.”
“We are very proud to see the way he (Modi) is working and his recent trip to Nepal and all his activities we have been watching,” Khan said.
“I hope Indians receive what we were expecting from him. He seems to be a very committed and dedicated person,” he added. (PTI)
