Attack

On August 5 at around 11.30 am, three youths Tyngshainbor Nongbsap (26), Rocky Shylla (27) and Edison Nongrum (28) hired a local taxi (ML-05F-6439) driven by Bijoy Biswa from Polo Bazar to Diengpasoh. On reaching at Mawkasiang (EKH) they threatened the driver with a khukri on his throat but he managed to escape. The miscreants hijacked the vehicle but were intercepted and arrested at Mawpdang village (EKH).

Earring snatched

On August 4 at around 10.40 am, one Rilang Lamare snatched a gold earring from Lavinia Nongrum at Nongrah, Nonglum, Shillong.

Attempted theft

On August 4 at around 4 am, an unknown miscreant broke into the house of Debayan Ghatak at Laitumkhrah, Shillong with an intention to commit theft. However, when the house owner raised an alarm, the miscreant fled away.

Modesty outraged

A person lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that on August 4 at about 2.30 am, one unidentified person entered his house at Nongrimmaw, Laitumkhrah and outraged the modesty of his wife.

lSkan Marboh lodged a complaint at Rynjah PS that on August 3, one Anup Singh outraged the modesty of one girl at her residence at Nongrah, Nongpdeng, Shillong.

Trucks seized

On August 4 at around 5 am, Police detected four trucks ML-05H-4277 and ML-10-7477 belonging to Blasting Lyngdoh, driven by Phedalis Wahlang and Lobington Jalong, respectively, ML-04B-0546 belonging to Dapbiang Sajem, driven by Pynthymmailangki Rabon and ML-04B-1185 belonging to Riburom Langstang, driven by Wanlang Shylla, while they were transporting coal belonging to Dawano Shylla and Mihsalan Lamare. Police arrested the coal owners, truck owners and drivers.

Theft

On the evening of August, security personnel of Airtel mobile tower lodged a complaint at Umsning that 24 batteries were found missing from the mobile tower at Umran Diary (RB).

lHAD Sawian lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that between August 2 and 3, unknown miscreants broke into his house and stole two i-pods and other items.

lOn August 2 at around 1 am, unknown miscreants stole one Maruti car (ML-05-9461) belonging to Kletus K. Mawlong from Dommawmluh Pyndengumiong village (WKH).

lOn the night of August 1, unknown miscreants stole one Bolero Pick-up (ML-08C-9390) belonging to Gautom Paul from Nakham Bazar, Tura (WGH).

Ransom demand

Nathanial Massar of Nongrimmaw, Laitumkhrah lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that on August 3, he received one anonymous phone call, in which the caller demanded Rs. 1 lakh from him with instruction to pay the same at 7th Mile, Upper Shillong, on August 4, 2014.

Accident

On August 4 at around 8 pm, one unidentified vehicle dashed against one motorcycle (ML-05A-5124) ridden by Stephan Lamare (32) at Rilbong Point, Shillong and fled away. The rider sustained injuries and was removed to CH Shillong.

lOn August 1, one Tempo (ML-08C-0439) driven by Dilip Hussain dashed against one Mahindra pick-up (ML-08A-4871) at Thakuranbari (SWGH). As a result, one occupant of the Mahindra pick-up, Md. Abdul Kaji sustained injuries and was shifted to PHC Mahendraganj and later referred to a hospital at Guwahati, where he succumbed to his injuries.
