Justice Pant assumes SC duty

SHILLONG: The Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya Justice PC Pant was sworn in as the judge of the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Union government recently had cleared appointment of one senior advocate and three High Court chief justices as judges of the Supreme Court. Apart from PC Pant, other two judges are Abhay Manohar Sapre and R Banumathi who were heading High Courts of Guwahati and Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, sources informed that Justice T. Nandakumar Singh will function as the acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya until a new Chief Justice is appointed.
