BAGHMARA: The Garo Students’ Union Southern Zone has called off their office picketing scheduled for August 20 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Baghmara.
The decision by the Union came after the South Garo Hills district administration gave an assurance that priority would be given to work out the ongoing predicament at Baghmara, the headquarters of South Garo Hills.
Meanwhile, the Border Fencing Beneficiaries’ Union has called for a public rally on August 22 at Baghmara Government School playground in protest against the government’s delay in awarding compensation to land owners who have lost their land to border fencing.
