Plantation

As a sequel to My Earth My Duty, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier is organizing a plantation drive on August 19. A.L. Hek, Health & Family Welfare Minister, will be the chief guest on the occasion.

BK Bajoria School celebrated Independence Day in a special way as it coincided with the 40th anniversary of the school. During the celebrations, junior and middle school students presented a sequence of patriotic songs whereas senior students presented enactment of the freedom struggle.

Screening

The Department of Sociology, Shillong College, organized a screening on the documentary “Where the Clouds End” by filmmaker Wanphrang Diengdoh on August 16 on the College premises. The screening was followed by an interactive session.

Puja celebrated

The Assam Sanatan Dharma Sabha, Laitumkhrah, Shillong celebrated Janmasthami Puja on August 17 and 18 with puja aartis, bhajans, kirtans and distribution of prasad to the devotees. Slokas from the Bhagavat Gita were rendered and films on Lord Krishna’s childhood were screened.

Office bearers

The Rajasthan Vishram Bhawan, Shillong, has elected 11 executive members during the election held on Sunday. Bimal Bajaj has been elected president, S.N. Beriwal has been elected vice-president, Kunj Bihari Ajmera as general secretary, G.S. Sharma and Purshottam Choudhary as joint secretaries, besides six other executive members.
