Pohkseh, Imson register first div wins

SHILLONG: Pohkseh held on to their 30th minute lead to register a 1-0 victory over Smit in the First Division football match at Polo Grounds on Thursday.

H. Wahlang’s winner came in the 30th minute of the game which was abandoned on Wednesday despite Pohkseh taking a first-half lead.

In the second First Division match of the day, Imson destroyed Lawmali 5-1 thanks to the efforts of M. Shylla who scored a hat trick. Lawmali salvaged some pride with a goal by L. Passi in the 66th minute. Shylla was responsible for the damage to Lawmali, earning his hat trick in the 85th minute after scoring two in the 63rd and 74th minutes. K. Lyngdoh gave Imson a 58th minute lead while P. Nongkseh scored his side’s fourth goal in the 80th minute.

On the same day, a Third Division match between Kharang and Lummawbah ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Lummawbah’s D. Lamin saved his side from defeat with a late injury time goal after Kharang drew first blood in the 34th minute through E. Nongrum.

On Friday, Laban and Laitlyngkot will face each other in the First Division match at 4 pm while Mawtawar and Mawkriah West will battle it out in the Third Division at 4:15 pm.
