Coal-laden truck seized in Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: While conducting regular checking on illegal transportation of coal following the NGT ban on coal mining and transportation of extracted coal, West Jaintia Hills Police detected one truck loaded with coal meant for transportation to Assam on Tuesday morning at around 1:00 am.

Police seized the truck (ML04A-6585) from Lad-Nartiang, Jowai and arrested the driver Teishwa Phyllei of Shangpung village.

West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Herbert G. Lyngdoh, informed that a case has been registered against the truck owner and the driver under appropriate section of law.
