Govt to search for mediator for peace talks with HNLC

SHILLONG: The State Government, while welcoming the positive move of HNLC to come overground, has stated that measures would be initiated for appointment of an interlocutor for the talks between the outfit and the Government.
In a statement issued here on Friday, the Government lauded the positive response of the HNLC to the call given by the Chief Minister to all militant, insurgent organizations to come over ground, avail the rehabilitation package for all the cadres which would include counseling, handholding, sustainable livelihood, join the mainstream and effectively engage in ushering peace and progress in the State and the region.
The State Government also expects the HNLC to restrain from any action contrary to the law or any illegal activities and desist from further recruitment in order to create conducive environment to carry forward the objective of achieving peace, progress and prosperity of the State.
