Cultural programme
The Shrimanta Sankardev Cultural Centre observed the tithi of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev with a three-day long colourful programme in its premises in Bishnupur. The programme included a religious discourse seminar besides others.
Plantation drive
NSS volunteers and programme officers, Shillong College in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong of Laitlum village organized a tree plantation drive at the village on August 26 .The programme was organized as part of the NSS activities in preserving the environment. Around 500 saplings were planted on the occasion.
Battle Rock
The Shillong City Entertainment Network Enterprise (SCENE) along with Evenflo Entertainment will organize the 2nd Shillong Battle Rock, 2014-Open Beat Contest from September 24-26. The prelims will be held on September 24 for local bands and on September 25 for outstation bands. The grand finale will be held on September 26 at the State Central Library.
Suicide Prevention Day
SAN-KER is commemorating the “World Suicide Prevention Day” by organizing a 13 km cycle rally which will commence at Mawroh Community Hall at10:00 AM on September 10.
Blood donation
Institute of Technology, Meghalaya organized a blood donation camp on August 29 in collaboration with North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong. Around 60 students participated in the camp.
