SHILLONG: The State BJP is concerned over the restricted working hours of petrol pumps in Tura which is causing inconvenience to the people of Garo Hills.

BJP’s State vice president, David Marak said that the decision of the Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union (APMU) and petrol pump owners of Tura may be right up to a certain extent but it has brought about hardship to the people of Garo Hills who have been at the receiving end for a long time.

“How long will the people of Garo Hills suffer for the unfortunate incident killing of a petrol pump worker) that led to immediate shutdown of the petrol pumps for several days,” the State BJP VP asked.

“The opening of Petrol Pumps only for four hours daily would make the commuters and vehicle owners suffer,” he said in a statement.

The State BJP requested the APMU and the petrol pump owners of Tura to restore day long service keeping in mind the larger interest of the people.
