NONGSTOIN: A fresh report on the damage caused by the cyclone in Ksehkohlong under Mawthadraishan C&RD Block on Saturday stated that only six families were badly affected by the tumultuous weather condition.
The report added that one family was severely hit by the violent windstorm and has been shifted to Ksehkohlong LP School for the time being.
The report was prepared by Mawthadraishan Block Development Officer, LK Diengdoh who visited the affected areas along with Nongstoin MDC, LG Nongsiej on Sunday to assess the damage.
Diengdoh informed that the affected families would be provided with two packets of rice and Rs 20,000 each.
“We reviewed the assessments made on the damages caused to the crops, livestock and properties,” Diengdoh said adding that adequate relief would be provided after thoroughly examining the details of the survey.
Meanwhile, the Nongstoin MDC handed over four packets of rice each to the affected families.
“Although Ksehkohlong falls under Mawthadraishan Constituency it is my duty to help my brothers
and sisters in need,” Nongsiej said adding that he would appeal to the Government to provide generous relief to the victims of the cyclone.
